Obey Me
Yes, I know there are a million rules, but please read them. Mem didn't write anything that doesn't need to be known.
I. OOC
1. Please try to be active. All I ask is that you post once every two weeks. If you can't make this deadline, please PM me telling me why, and we'll see what we can do about it. If you're going on hiatus, please warn the group before you leave.
2. Respect the admin and fellow members. Mem will not tolerate fighting, arguing, harassing, bossing around, or general pissy-ness from her members. Try to be polite and courteous to everyone. On the same note, remember the difference between IC and OOC. Just because someone's character doesn't like yours, doesn't mean the roleplayer dislikes you.
3. Listen to the admins when they tell you to do something. Mem isn't bossy, but when she lays down rules or orders, she doesn't like to see them disregarded.
4. Don't use l33t. At all. Ever. IC or OOC.
5. Keep vulgarity to a minimum on the OOC boards. I don't mind damn or shit every once in a while, but don't turn them into swear fests.
6. I don't want to see any form of "Hate" posted on this board OOCly. (IC I can understand, so long as it's just the character's opinion). This means, no racism, sexism, xenophobia, homophobia, etc. etc. Don't judge people based on their sexuality, gender, race, or religion. This is a serious rule, and I will permanently ban anyone who violates it from -ever- roleplaying on my boards again.
7. Please read the F.A.Q. It's not required, but it'll probably answer a lot of your questions. (Most of them were asked by someone who's never roleplayed once, and is interested in joining, so if there's any confusion at all, the F.A.Q should clear it up)
II. Roleplay
1. All new character's (excluding those born in Venial) must post in the Unclaimed Lands before venturing elsewhere. New members must keep to these boards for at least one week, before they can post in Ivory, Neutral, or Onyx lands. *The only exception to this rule is Test Subjects and The Lord.
2. Use proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation. There is no excuse not to spell words correctly, seeing as there's a "spell check" button available at the bottom of these posty-board things.
3. Mirror post whenever possible. That is, if someone writes five lines, write five lines back. Also, try to keep one-liners to a minimum. Venial doesn't have any restrictions on length, but we'd still rather not see one-liners.
4. We roleplay using story form. That is, third-person point of view in the past tense. Anyone using anything different than this will be corrected. It makes roleplaying much easier when done in this format. Don't know what that means? Here's an example: He crouched low to the ground, his bright eyes narrowed with predatory lust. Come closer he thought with a laugh. He could taste her flesh already.
5. No godmoding or powerplaying. Period. Also, no bleeding mary-sues/gary-stus. I won't stand for them, and your characters will not be approved.
6. You may not kill, maim, or otherwise force injury upon another character without the roleplayer's consent. If you plan on battling/fighting, please make sure you and your fellow roleplayer have decided on what they will and will not allow happen to their characters before hand.
7. Profanity is allowed up to a certain extent. Although I would prefer to keep the boards PG-13 as far as sexual content goes, I will allow swearing and violence as much as your heart desires. -IF- you decide to go above a PG-13 rating with Violence, please mark the title of your thread with a (V). If you want graphic mating/birthing or the like, please mark the title of your thread with an (X - Mature Content)
III. Characters
1. Please keep your character's appearance semi-realistic. I don't mind fantastical markings, but the colors should be natural. I will allow gray, white, black, red, yellow, orange, cream, brown, tawny, albino, zebra, what-have-you, so long as the color occurs naturally with mammals. I'm much more lenient with eye-colors.
2. Mutations can occur, such as blindness, deafness, missing limbs, etc. That's fine. But -no-, they can't fly or change their eye colors when they're angry or any such foolishness. Nor do they sprout demonic wings and get sucked into the fiery pits of hell...or heaven, whichever's your fancy.
3. All breeds of wolves and wolf hybrids will be accepted, within limits. I don't want this board to be filled with dire wolves and Wolf/Dog mixies. Please check the 'available breeds' section to see what I am and am not allowing at the current time.
4. Wolves of higher ranks are to be respected. They got those ranks for a reason, after all! They can be challenged, of course, in which "To the victor goes the spoils" comes in play. An alpha who is defeated by another wolf loses his territory to said victor. Never-the-less, respect wolves of high ranks. Look at them as admins. They will not tolerate rebellious streaks.
5. Wolves can fight. That's the best way to get a higher rank, claim territory, and protect the pack. Please remember not to god-mode or power-play. If you feel the need to have a moderator judge the fight, feel free to contact one of us.
6. Upon joining you are limited to 5 characters. Each rank you go up (you gain ranks by posting), you may make 5 more characters. If you reach the top level at 1000 posts, you may make as many characters as you desire. THIS INCLUDES PUPS.
Confused? See the chart:
Lone Wolf - 5 characters max
Omega - 10 characters max
Subordinate - 15 characters max
Beta - 20 characters max
Alpha - 25 characters max
Lord - Unlimited characters.
This is to keep players from creating tons of wolves, and not roleplaying any but two.
7. You may only create a new character (after your first five) if all of your current characters have been roleplayed at least once.
8. Please check the Reserved Names list, as well as the Character Listings, before naming your character. You may not use a reserved/taken name.
9. Wolves may only have one virtue or sin power. No more. You may also play a character who has no power, considered a 'neutral' wolf.
IV. Mating and Pups
1. Graphic mating/birthing will be allowed, but you MUST include a warning (X - Mature) in the title of such roleplays.
2. A sin-oriented wolf and a virtue-oriented wolf CANNOT become mates. Forced mating between them is allowed, but rarely will cubs be produced out of such a breeding.
3. Wolves must be full grown adults in order to breed. These means they need to be at least two years old.
4. Forced breeding will be allowed, but not without reason. Eg. A trusting, virtue-type alpha is not going to force breed his females, but, on the other hand, a Sin-type of any rank may very well (try to) do whatever he/she wants with whomever he/she wants.
5. Pregnancy will last for 2-3 weeks. After this, the admin or another staff member will post the pup's stats in the Breeding section. Each parent will then be allowed to choose one pup to roleplay, IF they have spaces left for more characters (Eg. If you're at the rank of subordinate, and you already have 9 characters, you will not be allowed to play one of your pups). The rest of the pups will be put in the adoptable character section.
6. The staff gets to choose how many pups are born (between 1-5), what they look like, and their genders. If you have any preferences please state them when you send in your breeding form. You do get to pre-determine the pups' names.
7. Pups, as well as any other wolf for that matter, will age 1 year every month. This means 2 months after their birth, pups (now full adults) may mate.
8. Same sex mates are allowed, but cannot produce offspring.
9. Neutrals can breed with Sins, Virtues, and other Neutrals.
10. Females may only breed once their current offspring are full grown.
V. Claiming
1. There are a set number of packs, and therefore alphas are going to have to prove themselves before Mem will allow them to claim a territory. Post in the territory you wish to claim with your alpha, and the Lord of the Lands will send a minion to test them. If your character is worthy, he or she will become the new alpha of that land.
2. Virtue wolves may only claim territory in the Ivory Lands. Sin wolves may only claim territory in the Onyx Lands. Following this rule, only Virtues may join packs in IL, and only Sins may join packs in OL. There are no exceptions being made at the current time. Neutrals may join neutral, virtue, or sin packs.
3. If you are a packless wolf looking for some place to join, post in the 'borderlands' of either Ivory or Onyx (see rule 2). This is the only place you may be claimed, every where else is either neutral or pack territory.
4. Alphas who wish to claim members must confront another wolf in the borderlands (betas may be sent if the alphas desire it). Claiming does not have to be a messy ordeal. A simple invitation and agreement to join the pack is fine. Sins will often dominate wolves who cross the borderlands, and force them into their packs. Virtues can do this, but probably won't, all things considered.
5. Once a land is claimed, the Alpha may PM Mem with a description of one more section to be added to their territory.
6. All pack lands start out with 3 sections to roleplay in. Once claimed, one more is added as per choice of the alpha. As that pack gains land (by defeating enemies, exploring, etc.) more sections can be added. Please PM Mem if you believe another section should be made for your territory.
7. Because there are so few packs, alphas are limited to one per person. This means if you have a wolf character who's claimed White Mercy, YOU may not have a second character claim a different territory.
VI. The Lord and His Minions
1. The Lord is, essentially, the ruler of Venial, although he doesn't actually take command over anyone but his minions. Wolves fear him. Very few have actually seen him, so those who don't fear him, often believe he doesn't really exist. All wolves in Venial have heard of him though, so unless you're a new-comer from a distant land, don't be ignorant of him.
2. If one wishes to become a Minion of the Lord, they must post in His lands, rather than the borderlands. The Lord does not go to the borderlands, and therefore will not claim anyone who waits for him there.
3. The Lord's minions are all gifted with a power unique to them. These are the Lord's choice, and will be PMed to you upon him claiming your character. If you have a preference or idea, feel free to suggest that before I send you their new ability/power.
4. Once a Minion of the Lord, you will be sent on tasks to do his bidding. The more tasks you complete, the happier the Lord is with you. If the Lord thinks your a very good minion, he might up your rank, give you your own section of his land to rule, or gift you with a second power. This is not your choice. This is his. So don't bug him/the admin about it.
5. You may leave the Lord if you no longer want to be his minion, but this is not easy. The Lord will try everything within his power to stop you, short of killing you (and he might just try to do that too if he doesn't like you). He has the ability to take away your powers if you leave him, so be wary of this choice.
6. Minions must ask the Lord's permission before mating/breeding. No other wolf has to ask permission from their alpha.
7. Even though The Lord's territory is in the Neutral lands, Virtues and Sins can join his pack.
VII. Death
1. Wolves on Venial WILL DIE. They can die of old age, be killed during a battle, die of starvation, dehydration, disease, natural disaster, etc. etc. But they do die, and it's very important to remember this.
2. Wolves age 1 year every real time month. They can live for a total of 25 years (25 months real time), and once they reach the age of 25, they die.
3. Once a wolf dies, his information will be sent to the cemetery, his/her name will still be considered 'taken', and cannot be used again.
4.If/when one of your wolf characters die, this opens another character slot for you.
5. You may NOT re-create a dead character, or make a reincarnate of him nor can you play him as a ghost/soul/undead/etc. The character is DEAD, and unless we state otherwise, he/she's not coming back.
VIII. Challenges
1. A challenge can only be issued IC. The possibility of one may be discussed OOC, but the challenge must be roleplayed out, from beginning to end. Who the victor is MAY be pre-determined, but consent for this outcome must be PMed to the admin from BOTH the persons involved.
2. Challenges must be answered. Any challenge left unanswered for two weeks is considered over, and the challenger is the automatic victor. The only exception to this rule is if the owner of the wolf being challenged is on vacation/hiatus.
3. Challenges may be made for; land, ranks, mates, food, trinkets, to end feuds, punishment (eg. whether or not a wolf will be banished from a pack), testing strength (eg. to decide whether or not a wolf is worthy of your pack, or to decide if an alpha is worthy enough for a wolf to wish to join their pack), and to prove dominance.
4. Challenges don't just have to be physical battles, they can also be tests of intelligence, speed, endurance, etc. Don't limit yourself to just one thing.
5. A wolf may be killed during a challenge, but permission must be granted by the roleplayer before hand. Same for major injuries.
6. Whomever wins the challenge, wins whatever they were fighting for. There's no "oh, I didn't really mean it", or "two out of three?" about it. THEY WIN. The end. You can always try to get it back at a later date.
7. The admin will judge all challenges, and decide upon the victor, so no cheating occurs. The success of all actions during a challenge will be decided upon by a dice roll.
IX. Test Subjects
1. There are Seven test subjects. No more, no less. Once those seven are taken, no more will be created. If someone leaves the rp permanently, any TS they own will be put of for re-adoption, but otherwise, once they're gone, they're gone.
2. Test Subjects can't claim territories in Ivory or Onyx. Nor can they join packs here. They can, on the other hand, claim Neutral territory and join Neutral packs (this includes the Lord's pack).
3. One TS per person. You may apply for as many as you like, but you will only be given one.
4. TS's can die, just like any other wolf.
5. TS's must be roleplayed to match their belief (listed in the Test Subject thread).
