One chuckled to himself as he soared across the skies across the neutral lands toward the temple in the distance. He never really appreciated its awful and unattractive appearance, but it was the feel of the wind ruffling his feathers and the overwhelming sense of weightlessness that made him scream with joy.
His sharp eyes took in almost everything on the terrain. After watching that sour wolf by the name of Four cross the river, One had surveyed the area intensely. He noticed the obvious change in the rocks and plant species, the small creatures hiding in their holes trying to keep out of sight of the great eagle that had appeared in the sky. Ha! None could escape the sights of One!
'Oh look yonder the wings that shroud the sun, Whose eyes burn like stars and brings night to the minds Of those who fear the hunter and the One So magnificent, Glorious and...'
One's own self-absorbed poem was interrupted as he suddenly realized how near they were to the temple grounds. A few crows cawed in the distance and wisely fled the area toward the Lord's lands. Other than that, the air had a deathly eerie stillness and only the insects of decay roamed about.
:: I see nothing to suggest anyone else here other than the two of us. The Lord never enters the temple, why are we here then? ::

Four stalked the ground as though it belonged to him and him alone. Let that fool, One, soar the skies if it pleased. This land would be his. And these new wolves would pay him homage in due course. He searched his mind for long lost memories, but found none.
Still, instinct arose. He needed a pack. Those who would do his bidding, advance his rank and power. Perhaps One was clever enough to realize he should stick with Four. Perhaps not. He would know soon what the shape shifting creature was made of.
The Temple of Change arose before him, its eerie silence and uncanny statues beckoning. On the outskirts, the low trees of the Imperial Forest seemed to bow to the wolf trudging gainfully along. Four was pleased, as much as one such as he could be anyway.
He hesitated only a moment before entering the boundaries of the temple. There was likely good reason the Lord never entered, but life was full of risk. And risks were overcome by intelligence and strength. Four had both.
“I have questions for the Lord,” Four mouthed in answer, still not sure he liked this thought-speech. “And I would prefer to face an adversary of greater strength in an environment that inhibits him.”
What Four knew was that he needed safe ground to taunt the Lord closer, to demand answers. Of course, he might just as easily send some other wolf in his stead. But that didn’t worry Four. Woe the wolf that thought to take him on. And if the woe was to Four, well…
No one knew these lands well enough that he could not evade an attack. And he did have an advantage in the eyes of his newest… comrade.
“Now to you, my would-be friend,” Four spoke aloud, settling at the base of a twisted sculpture. “Leave. Spread word that Four has claimed the Temple for his own. And we’ll see who answers.”

One circled in the air above, scrutinizing the sculptures of cold lifeless stone and letting a part of his own imagination run wild. Though his vivid ideas he breathed life into those inanimate rocks. One of them, he found, seemed to be in the shape of a fish, though not quite. Wait, yes, it could still be a fish. A... half-eaten fish! One chuckled to himself as he heard the words from Four.
:: Kou... to challenge the Lord? If he refuses to step here will you wait forever? What am I now? Your courier? ::
One muttered in mock exasperation. Personally he wouldn't claim such ugly lands. No indeed. His own domian, should he want one, would be one that matched at least his splendour. If not it should perhaps compliment his beauty and elegance. This cold dusty lands would not do for sure. But for the sake of a wolf who had been around as long as he and had a number as a name, he would oblige.
:: I'll depart now. I will be back soon. ::
Lifting one wing and angling his tail against the wind, One pulled out of his circling and glided away to do as Four had 'oh-so-graciously' asked him to do.
ooc: Now there, Mem hasn't been on for a while, where shall this lead to?

Four watched One glide off, briefly wondering what that felt like. To fly the skies with wind lifting you ever higher.
Better to wonder what it felt like to taste the blood and submission of one’s enemy. Especially now that he’d called them on. For a moment, doubt shadowed his thoughts. Would the Lord answer? If he did not, could Four accept the fact that he was thought so low of?
He didn’t think so.
But someone would come, if only to answer or seek one who dared challenge the power of these lands. And Four would claim those he could, kill those who did not yield, and gather what strength his adversaries possessed.
And if the Lord did not come to him, well, he intended to match his strength with an army of his own. A long task, to be sure. But what the hell else did he have to do in these lands that had imprisoned him?
Four settled on his belly beneath a statue that seemed some sort of cross between animal and monstrosity, and rested his head atop his crossed paws.
Let them come.
OOC: Sorry its taken me this long, been busy getting kids back to school these last couple weeks. And I think Four is simply going to wait for a while until he is challenged, or until someone comes calling from the Lord. Mem? Well, she'd been pretty hectic herself, new province, new home... She'll be back soon.

ooc: Hmm let'see, Kage is with your lil cubby in the mountains, Dagstae is waiting for Tor's reply (can't move him), Black Jack's confronting Faolan, and One certainly doesn't want to challenge Four (He's too lazy to do that plus it might ruin his fur...)
My Japanese wolf is still waiting for approval, along with a new guy's two characters. *drums fingers on table* Soon better be sometime this millenium... ^_^
