Marl blinked her eyes. It was a most curious place she had found herself in. She padded softly on the grass surrounding the creek, which was unusually clear. So clear, in fact, that one could see the pebbles at the bottom. She lowered her lips and took a drink. The water felt refreshing and life-giving.
Life-giving?
Marl's calmness vanished in an instant as she realized what had happened. She turned to view her side and found a nasty trickle of blood. She nearly collapsed in shock. Was she dead? No, she wasn't. Her heart was beating and her senses all worked perfectly. The black wolf was in a state of total confusion. Shaking her head vigorously, Marl decided to take a nap. She took another quick drink and curled up under a tree to rest. A deep sleep would ease the pain and quell all her worries.

From my previous post as an intro.
[Black Jack's senses came back to him slowly. He pried open his heavy eyelid's wincing at the sudden blank glare of light that hurt his eyes. At first he only saw rings and faded shadows, but they slowly and gradually sharpened into clear vision. Looming trees towered above him, the smell of the deep forest and grass, the sounds of the insects and birds. All so alien and unrealistic to his confused mind.
He was lying on his back, he realized and quickly turned over to anchor his four legs onto the ground. A mutt never lasted long showing his belly to the sky, unless his pack was around to watch out for him. Black Jack was never really part of a pack. The feeling of such exposure sent a chill through his gut. But the sight, sounds and smells of such an environment made him shiver a little in bewilderment. Where was the city? The drone of the cars and the rustle of human voices...
That's right. I had saved that human. Running in front of the car. It was my duty I suppose but now... where am I?
He turned his head from the left to the right, scanning his surroundings as its details became clearer to him. The smell of the woods. Seeming so alien yet almost familiar. His instincts told him that after so many years, this was the place to belong to.
Yea right... I died. I'm either dreaming, or this is the supposed afterlife. And since I'm not dreaming, it means I have died. So what difference does it make if I am in the afterlife?
He started padded forward, pleasantly surprised at the cushiony softness of the ground. After all, he had spent the bulk of his time on the man-made cement and granite roads.
I wonder if there are others nearby. Now that's a stupid question. There's bound to be others nearby. Unless we were destined to be separated in the afterlife, then there is no reason why there wouldn't be others around. Others who had died and live here. Will other dogs and animals get sick here? Can I continue to heal others?
He paced through the trees at a relaxed pace, not really thinking that there would be any pack here. And if there were, they weren't much of a problem to him. Suddenly he stopped.
If I am dead, then will my mother be here? Mother...
He started running, wondering if this eternity had any boundaries.]
Black Jack halted at the edge of the stream. He had been panting badly but he had yet to see or feel the presence of another wolf. Was he alone in this wilderness? Was this really eternity or just a realistic dream? Was he in some coma after the accident and this was his imagination?
He bent down to look at the water. His familiar reflection coming back to him. He was an odd wolfish figure. Covered in black with white rectangular patches of fur on his left side, making his coat uneven. The left of his face was covered in white patch, the scars running under his eyes and over his forehead. His shoulder, left lung, hip and abdomen was still white. The remainder of his body was black.
White... the white bits of his mother. The thought scared him. If I have parts of my mother, did she come into the afterlife as a whole wolf?! He shook his head violently to clear the thought. No, that was getting illogical and out of hand again. He had only questions but no answers. Since he had no answers, he might as well push it out of his mind for the moment. Why dwell on the unfathomable?
He lapped up the water, quenching his thirst as slowly his panting ceased and he was able to clear his senses. It was then he noticed a wolfish scent in the wind. Another wolf? He headed along the river, searching for the other canid. Find her he did, curled up beneath of the shade of a tree resting. He didn't want to scare her, so he cleared his throat a tad loudly and waited for her reaction.

Marl sharply turned her tapered head in the direction of the boldly marked newcomer and took a deep sniff to appease her olfactory system. She smiled at him in a sympathetic manner and took a few steps forward. "Hello, stranger. Any clue as to where we might be?"

Black Jack dipped his head once and only slightly, as a form of greeting to her.
"Unfortunately I have no such comprehension of this place for I have only arrived just a while ago today. I only know I am most certaintly either dead, or in a coma of sorts."
He sniffed at her, relieved that she did smell wolfish and was not some sort of demon in his dreams.
"Ah I apologise for my insensitivity. My name is Black Jack. May I know what is yours?"

The black wolf nodded politely. "I am Marl McQueen. It is good to meet you, Black Jack. Signs of other canines make me feel more comfortable. I can't imagine what this place is."
Here Marl looked around as if suddenly distracted by an invisible butterfly.
"But the only thing we can do is to make the best of it. I do believe I am rather dead, as I was shot by a human hunter," Marl said, motioning to the bloody hole in her side. "And you?"

Black Jack gazed at her side with a fair bit more interest than a normal wolf would.
"Does it hurt?" He questioned, distracted by her wound. So indeed wolves could get hurt here, which meant he could continue his profession.
'The blood seems to have coagulated. Perhaps it is already in the process of healing...' He thought to himself as he paced a few steps nearer to sniff at her wound.
He raised his head again to look at her.
"Oh sorry? I? I was hit by a car saving a human's life. Its that big metal thing that humans sit in and it takes them around where ever they want to go.
Hmm, I can only imagine this is some afterlife of sorts."
He looked away at the peaceful scenery beside the stream.
"Shall we venture further in?" He asked. He never really liked to talk alot... but when you're dead and confused, any company is good company.

Marl looked at the wolf in some alarm. "Move? I think I need a little more rest."
As much as she carved company, she didn't yet know who she could trust and who she couldn't.
"I suppose you are leaving, are you? If so, we shall probably see each other soon."
Marl went back to the tree and made a circle. She instantly plopped into it, relaxed.
"Good-bye, Black Jack. Unless, of course, you do not wish to leave." She smiled, in a kindly manner.

If there were some brick wall nearby, Black Jack might have just walked over to it and banged his head against it. Instead he chastised himself silently. What was he thinking? She was injured after all. Strange... He had been hit by a car and had probably broken his spine, punctured his lungs, fractured a few ribs... Yet here he was without a scratch on him, save for the scars and white patches of fur of course.
"No madam I shan't leave then since you need the rest. Advise me when you are hungry, and I shall see if I can get you anything."
He replied as he stalked over and lay down nearby. Come to think of it, if this were the afterlife, would they need to eat? Yes of course, he had felt thirsty hadn't he? He looked at her wound again. If only he had his stuff with him. He might have been able to give her some supplements to speed her recovery.
Then his mind went blank for a moment, as if a sudden wall of glaring white had washed over his eyes. He almost yelped but the flash of light had happened so fast he had almost no time to react. And then it happened.
Suddenly, he could see through her fur, her ribs, her muscles, the veins and arteries, her organs.... What he saw of the wound and the blood clot, it was all disappearing. It was as if he were seeing her recovery in mere seconds. Then the startling revelation faded and his vision was back to normal.
He shook a little, his mind trying to comprehend what had happened. He glanced back at her and was then aware of the tension that showed upon his face. He relaxed a little so as not to frighten her.
"My apologies, I was just distracted..." He glanced at her side and squinted. Was the blood stain of the wound gone?
OOC: Well, actually Black Jack healed her in this post. But I re-edited it into a sort of hazy experience for him, so that its up to you if he did heal her or just managed to see her anatomy.

Marl regarded Black Jack calmly, and blinked. She gazed at her side. The fur where the bullet wound was now gleamed healthily and grew long and thick. "You must be a healer, then," she said, still thinking about what had just happened. It just occurred to her how obvious the statement was. But she did not seem to care, as she felt slightly dazed. Was this a magic place?
"Well. I feel right as rain, it seems you have healed me perfectly!" Marl smiled. Black Jack seemed like a good fellow. She got up and shook herself, dislodging several pieces of grass and leaves. "I've been wanting to claim some territory. I was an alpha where I came from," she explained, "and the need to be in command of a tract of land is a need that burns as much as hunger or thirst. I think I need to explore this place."
Marl motioned to an arbitrary point in the horizon. "Do you smell that gorgeous scent? It smells of my homeland. Tropical, lush, with the cloying scent of flowers hanging in the air." Marl took a deep breath and shuddered. She looked towards Black Jack. "I feel a burning desire to investigate the source of such a heavenly smell. Do you wish to be my traveling companion?"

Black Jack trembled a little. So he had healed her.
Why? How could it have happened? There is something about this place that doesn't seem right. It looks natural, yet feels as if its possessed. It cannot be that I have to work so hard to gather things just to heal some street dogs, yet here I have healed the first injured wolf I met by simply envisioning it...
He shook off the fear and shock. Well, things are bound to get interesting from here on. So he had been given the power to heal others magically in this afterlife. It had been the one thing he had always dreamed about. Touching lives and altering them from their state of despair or to take away the pain that others felt. Now that he finally had it, he suddenly felt assured in his path. His path would still be straight, he will continue to treat others.
"It would be a pleasure to accompany you in this journey, though I lack experience in being a good companion."
He mumbled a little as he tore his eyes from the glossy fur where her wound had been and turned to look at the vast blue sky.

"That's no problem," said Marl slightly enthusiastically. "Onward we go!"
She traipsed off in the direction she mentioned earlier and left the creekside.
[OOC: She went to Velvet Arsenic. I've had my eye on that land for a while now... haha. It seems your character is Virtuous though, I'm not sure how far he will get to go into it.]
