I was reading Mordern's bio in 'adoptable characters'. Can coyotes take down a horse?! Plus, coyotes don't really form a pack do they? I thought they were either solitary or paired with mates.

Used to live in Arizona. I've seen it happen! From wikipedia: "They may occasionally assemble in small packs, but normally hunt alone." In times of scarcity, most any animal will band with others to take down prey.

As for taking down a whole horse by itself, I would doubt it. Coyotes aren't exactly a large creature, so I doubt a solitary one would be able to have the strength and patience to dodge those hooves.

But they're not stupid animals. Chances are they'd get killed by a full grown horse as they would have to get under it to supply any major damage. They can't magically fly to latch onto their sides.
I think they would rather raid a garbage can.
We have 'yotes here too. Not as common as the ones in Arizona, I imagine, but still.

For the purpose of this game, coyotes may choose to join packs. And there's no worry about whether or not they can take down a horse. No horses here in Venial.
But, for the record, I have friends who've had their horses eaten by coyotes, so I supose it is possible, just unlikely.
